🍂🥧Thank You, Friends!

Happy Thanksgiving, Friends!

We have so much to be grateful for in 2021.  This year, we installed the demonstration garden, painted the benches, and started collecting visitor count data.  And we did all this work amid the continued pandemic public health restrictions.  None of these accomplishments would have been possible without our amazing volunteers who stepped up to help!   Donation Thermometer

We have a few more things we'd like to share this Thanksgiving week:

Donation Drive - We did it!

Thank you, donors! Because of your generosity, we exceeded our $5,000 goal in our Give Until it Feels Good!  campaign, raising $5,440!  As we prepare for the 110th Anniversary and major restoration of the Park, these funds put us on strong financial footing.

Visitor Count Update

We've been gathering visitor counts since May, and learning as we go.  In October, we met with our Visitor Count volunteer corps, who gave us great ideas for improving the forms.  Starting on December 1, we will have simplified forms and fewer shifts per day.  Updated forms will be posted to our Visitor Count Resources Page.

Are you interested in joining the Visitor Count Volunteers Corps? Counting visitors takes just 15 minutes, and you can sign up for a shift that's convenient for you.  If you would like to help with visitor counts, please sign up on our 2021 Volunteer page.  We'll provide training and answer any questions you have.

Titanic 110th Anniversary Update

Planning is proceeding for our Titanic 110th Anniversary Gala & Tribute on April 16, 2022.  The gala will be held at Arena Stage - the Mead Center for American Theater - from 6:30pm - 9:30pm.  We will have a Titanic-themed menu (provided by Distinct Taste Catering) and exciting speakers including Jeff Reinbold, Superintendent of the National Mall & Memorial Parks.

We are also working on plans for educational displays in the park and obtaining the necessary Park Service permits.

Tickets for the Gala will go on sale starting in January, and there will be plenty of volunteer opportunities related to the Gala and the educational displays in the Park.

If you would like to join the Titanic 110th planning committee, now is a great time!  Our next meeting will be held via Zoom on December 6, 2021.  Sign up on our 2021 Volunteer page if you are interested, and we will send you meeting details.

Calling All Sleuths! Park Benchmark

Benchmark MeasurementWe noticed that someone was taking measurements at the benchmark just behind the Titanic Memorial on November 12th.  Do you know who takes these measurements, how they are used, or where we can find them?  We'd love to learn more, and share that knowledge with our Friends!  Please contact us at [email protected] if you can enlighten us.
